Job Description:

This is a newly created opportunity to lead, define and influence process improvement and re-engineering at Arbitron. We are looking for a Master Black Belt that will help take our company to the next level. This individual is responsible for the long-range technical vision and implementation of Six Sigma, including the development of technology road maps and working technically across functional areas and businesses. The ideal candidate will take a leadership role in the larger, more complex Six Sigma program initiatives or projects to improve critical business processes that drive financial results with the capability of taking enterprise wide.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Black Belt organization on large scale and complex process improvement and re-engineering projects within the Operations and Customer Services team.
  • Lead the Quality Assurance efforts of the Operations and Customer Services department to meet Arbitron’s strict quality standards in accordance with our survey methodology, while always striving for continued improvement.
  • Develop quality assurance programs, policies, processes, procedures and controls to ensure performance and quality of products conform to established company, international (ISO), and governmental regulatory standards and agency guidelines, and to ensure lasting customer satisfaction.
  • Provide consultation and direction as a subject matter expert on the application of Six Sigma methods to Champions, Black Belts, and Green Belts. Initially there will be a heavy concentration on DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve and control with specific projects which will require extensive knowledge of DMADV (define, measure, analyze, design, verify).
  • Identify potential Black Belts and recruit new team members.
  • Provide necessary training, coaching and consultation to team members to spread the base of Six Sigma Problem Solving tools and their application in project implementations.
  • Use best practice, project management principles to manage team activities. Identify opportunities, define and financially justify projects, negotiate resources, and launch project teams.
  • Lead teams to execute projects utilizing good problem solving methodologies, to include tracking project status and results, anticipating and removing project barriers, and developing team members
  • Identify integration issues with other projects/processes and coordinate the improvements with the appropriate project/ process owners to accomplish the project goals
  • Assess the progress of Black Belts during project applications, verify/validate Black Belt-led project savings, and assess the knowledge and skills of Black Belts for certification purposes.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring the degree to which the project goals, objectives and metrics are being met.
Job Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15+ related experience leading large organizations in Operations, Quality, Call Center Management, Logistics, Processing & Fulfillment and/or Business Continuity.
  • Master Black Belt certification from a widely recognized top tier organization and proven track record in the application of Six Sigma methods to business improvement and product design.
  • QS Certified as a QA Manager is required.
  • Solid hands-on project management and team leadership skills are a must. Requires knowledge of other functions that provide regular inputs (i.e., Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Finance, Human Resources, and Operations).
  • Prior experience implementing and managing ISO 9000 and ISO 2000 environments and the understanding of Quality Control as an important part of business operations is required.
  • Prior experience creating and implementing a Quality Assurance system.
  • Prior experience and demonstrated proficiency utilizing statistical software tools (i.e. Minitab, SigmaXL, etc.) is required.
  • Malcolm Baldrige auditing experience a plus.
  • Prior experience establishing and managing Internal & External Audit procedures including the use of an Issue Tracking System and implementing this at an enterprise level to “C” level Executives.
  • Must understand statistical analysis tools/methodology, basic PC operation, project management, continuous improvement, quality and basic financial principles and apply them to analyze the planned activities. Proficiency with ERP and PLM / PDM systems a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong mentorship and Subject Matter expertise.
